Project Overview
- Summit (formerly Spenmo) is an AP workflow platform designed to help companies optimize financial operations, minimize errors, and gain full visibility into their expenses.
- Financial policies are central to effective expense management, yet integrating each client’s unique rules into a single system was highly complex.
- With over 300 clients, our small operations team handled every setup manually — creating delays, repeated clarifications between operations and engineering, high error risk, and significant bandwidth loss.
- The objective was to enable finance teams to configure approval policies independently — removing operational bottlenecks, reducing errors, and accelerating execution.
- I influenced product direction by narrowing scope to the most valuable workflows and shaping the product flow to improve task efficiency — enabling a faster, lower-risk release with strong usability.
- Within 4 weeks of release, more than 90 clients processed hundreds of bill payment workflows through the advanced approval system. Usability testing confirmed setup completion in under 5 minutes, compared to the days required through previous support requests.

Challenges
Project
- Fast-moving scope changes required quick re-prioritization without derailing timelines.
- Limited bandwidth for design and engineering meant every feature had to justify its impact.
- Short runway to adapt to a new team, work culture, and language, while still securing real customer input for testing.
Design
- Early-stage design system increased complexity of high-fidelity design work.
